David Simpson was born and brought up in the clean air of Labrador City, in the far northeast corner of Canada. From a young age David has always been a creative guy constantly looking for ways to express his ideas.
David came to Osaka, Japan, in 2004 after spending several years in South Korea supporting himself with various roles Dj-ing, music event organization, promotion, and of (course) teaching. Soon after his arrival David aka ‘The Maker’ founded his business.
Illectric Sheep originally started off as an event-organizing start-up during 2006 in Osaka, Japan and has evolved into it’s own brand that produces hope for everyone who wants to make a useful social contribution. Our iconic sheep head logo sits at the centerpiece of the More Life Project by Illsheep, an initiative aimed at raising funds for small projects that push for a more environmentally friendly future.
The theme of ‘Illectric Sheep’ contains a passion for the environment that matches with the recent global trend to create awareness for a greener future. From its beginning, the Illectric Sheep brand has taken it’s roots from the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick and Ridley Scott’s classic movie, Blade Runner which told of a time when tension existed between people on Earth and those who migrated to ‘Off World’ in outer space as a result of the planet not being able to accept further population growth following environmental degradation and damage incurred by industrialization.
Illectric Sheep produces limited edition collectible apparel and goods with our infamous iconic Illsheep trademark logo to help create green awareness and assist in providing funding for More Life Project by Illsheep.
“I’m a lucky guy. I was just a kid with a big imagination. All I ever wanted was to create something of my own. The by-product of that creative spirit has let my imagination run free in other areas whether it be in the social business of clothes, travel and culture, or whatever.”
